Our Name

Our school is called Toobaa and the meaning of our name is, as Allah said in Surah Ar-Ra’d, verse 29 of the Holy Qur’an:

“Those who believe and work righteousness, Toobaa is for them and a beautiful place of (final) return.”

Toobaa is the name of a tree in Paradise reserved for the pious Believers.  The time is takes to traverse it is 100 years.  The clothing of the inhabitants of Paradise is taken from its sheaths.

On Anas ibn Malik: The Prophet Muhammad (sallAllaahu alaihi wa sallam): “There is a tree in Paradise which, if a rider [on horseback] travels in its shade for 100 years, he would not be able to completely cross it.”

[Al-Bukhaaree (summarized version #1378)]

On Abu Sa’eed al-Khudhree: The Prophet Muhammad (sallAllaahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Toobaa is a tree in Jannah. Its width is 100 years [on horseback]. The garments of the inhabitants of Jannah are made from its bark.

[Imaam Ahmad, Ibn Hibbaan]

Toobaa refers to the most extreme type of pleasure and delight; when one reclines and relaxes and takes shade under this tree it will be incomparable to any relaxation ever taken before—a reward awaiting the believers.

When Imam Malik Ibn Anas, the premier scholar of prophetic traditions, embarked on the study of Islamic sciences with a teacher, his mother advised him to, “Learn from your teacher his manners before you learn from him his knowledge.”

Hence, our motto is inspired by the wisdom of Imam Malik Ibn Anas' mother:

"Excellent Manner Before Knowledge"
